Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Didn’t Get Around to in 2016

toptentuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week the theme was Top Ten 2016 releases I meant to read but didn’t get to (but TOTALLY plan to). There are…ahem…a ton of books that fall into this category! Here is my best attempt to pick out the top ten books published in 2016 that I most regret NOT reading yet.

1. Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo (YA Fantasy)
2. Timekeeper by Tara Sim (YA Fantasy, Steampunk)
3. Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst (YA Fantasy)

4. The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead (Historical fiction)
5. Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi (Historical fiction)
6. Swing Time by Zadie Smith (Contemporary fiction)

7. Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of Family and Culture in Crisis by J.D. Vance (Nonfiction, Memoir, Politics)
8. Lab Girl by Hope Jahren (Nonfiction, Memoir, Science)
9. Born A Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah (Nonfiction, Memoir)

10. Vassa in the Night by Sarah Porter (YA Fantasy, Retellings)

What books are on your list from 2016?

  1. TimeKeeper looks interesting. I enjoyed reading the first book in the Six of Crows series, but just don’t feel invested enough to read Crooked Kingdom. I’m seeing Hillbilly Elegy everywhere!

  2. I need to read Crooked Kingdoms! I just loved book one, I think I got cold feet though cos I own a copy but haven’t picked it up yet… how bad is that! Vassa in the Night sounds good too.

Hope you get to these soon,
    Happy Reading

  3. There are some great books on this list! I can’t believe I forgot Hillbilly Elegy on my list. But I guess I own a copy, so I will get to it soon enough. I also can’t wait to read Crooked Kingdom and Swing Time. So many great 2016 books!

  4. I just bought Crooked Kingdom yesterday but I still haven’t gotten around to reading Six of Crows. I am so behind in reading – I still have books from 2011, I’m trying to get through. I hope you enjoy these!

  5. I included Of Fire and Stars on my list this week too. I definitely could’ve included a few of the others you mentioned (especially Homegoing and Timekeeper) too – I easily could’ve made a MUCH longer list this week, haha.

  6. Timekeeper is on my list as well! Oh, Crooked Kingdom was one of my faves of 2016, hope you’ll enjoy! 🙂 And I just finished Of Fire and Stars and quite enjoyed it. Hope you’ll get to all of these in 2017!

  7. Crooked Kingdom is one of my absolute favourites, I definitely recommend you pick it up asap! ^^ I’m also curious for Vassa in the Night, I’ve heard good things about it…
