Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week the theme was Top Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Leaving Under My Tree. Since we don’t have a tree, or get visits from Santa, I thought I’d change it slightly to reflect our Chanukah celebrations!
10 Bookish Gifts for 8 Crazy Nights of Chanukah!
Folio Society Books!
I love these beautiful publications, and would love to receive a few more! These are three that I have been ogling for a while:
- The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
- Beloved by Toni Morrison
- Emma by Jane Austen
Hamilton: The Revolution
By Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jeremy McCarter. Because I love all things Hamilton!
Game of Thrones Collection
By George R.R. Martin. I desperately want this cloth-bound boxed set that includes the first five books of the Games of Thrones series!
March, Books 1 -3
By John Lewis. John Lewis is one of my idols, and a true American hero. He is the only speaker from the 1963 March on Washington that is still alive. I consider the world lucky that John Lewis chose to document his time during the Civil Rights movement in the way he did, in a series of graphic novel memoirs. I will definitely be reading these in 2017, and would love to own them!
Leigh Bardugo Boxed Sets
I would love these two boxed sets, of the Grisha Trilogy and the Six of Crows Duology.
Harry Potter!
I have read HP multiple times, but the more I see the illustrated editions, the more I would like to own them!
The illustrated HPs are so cool! I got the first one last Christmas. I was going to put Chamber of Secrets on my list this year, but I ended up pre-ordering it because I couldn’t wait!
Pre-ordering is always a tempting option!
Great list! Hope you’ll receive some of these as gifts 🙂 I have the Hamiltome and the Harry Potter illustrated edition on my wishlist as well.
Thanks! I hope you receive books off of your wishlist, too!
Those folio editions do look rather special
I love Folio Society books. They are gorgeous, and added illustrations are often done by amazing artists.
Happy Chanukah (Hanukkah?)! Those beautiful HP illustrated books would make a great gift for any HP lover for any occasion. They’re gorgeous. I bought THE SORCERER’S STONE for my daughter last year and wouldn’t mind at all if Santa (or anyone, really) left a copy under my tree!

Thank you! And it is spelled both ways. 😊 my daughter is still young enough (barely) that I can buy an illustrated copy “for the family” and keep it on my bookshelf. 😆
I love those folio editions and the GoT cloth-bound editions. I’ve seen a few people in the past post pictures of the GoT books and I absolutely love them! I just don’t think I would ever buy a box set for a series that isn’t complete yet, haha.
It’s so funny you say that, my spouse said the same thing. He’s a big GoT fan, and thinks we should wait till the whole series is complete before buying the set. I plan on starting to read it in Jan, and really want to read the nice cloth bound ones instead of library copies! We’ll see if he ends up buying it for me or not – but a package from B&N matching the size of the set did arrive few weeks ago. 😆
Hahaha I would get frustrated if I spent money on a nice set and then had to buy another set once the next book(s) was released haha I hope he bought it for you though! That would be awesome!
Those folio books are gorgeous! I really need that edition of The Handmaid’s Tale! Wishing you a very happy Hanukkah!
Thank you! The Handmaid’s Tale is one of my all-time favorites. Happy holidays!
Yes, I need the HP Illustrated Editions too!
Check out my TTT and my current giveaways.
First of all: Happy Hanukkah!! I celebrated once as a kid because my dad is Jewish, but it didn’t go well and we stuck to Christmas. My dad told me later it was because he wasn’t really raised that strictly in celebrating Hanukkah and ended up celebrating Christmas with his family growing up. So we weren’t really Christians or Jews: we were “Christmas.”
Great list! Love your choices and I can see why you chose them! Yay!
Thank you! I definitely know a lot of people that celebrate Christmas in a secular way.
Yeah! It’s the holiday that’s been made into a necessity practically! 🤷♀️🤦♂️
